Cebu Doctors' University Mountaineers

History

On August 17, 1995, Jodyl Isaac, a Dentistry student and an experience climber, organized and recruited 23 CDCians to form a mountaineering club. Thus, the Cebu Doctors’ College Mountaineering Club was born with Jodyl as the 1st president.

The Pioneers had their first climb on August 20-21, 1995 at Osmeña Peak, Mantalongon, Dalaguete Cebu, where a member of the Habagat Team conducted a Basic Mountaineering Course (BMC) to the climbers. The club’s first major climb was at Lake Kasudsuran, Ormoc City for three days and two nights.

After Jodyl graduated in 1996, pioneer members Bong Tampon, Miguel Bergamento and Johnson Po recruited the next batch of climbers. Jonathan Yap was elected president. But in 1998 the club and its members were inactive because most of the pioneers had graduated from Cebu Doctors College.

Revival

After attending the Leadership Training Seminar (LTS) conducted by the CDC Guidance Office and SAPPRO, Bong Tampon and Jeffrey So, both BSRT students decide to revive the CDC Mountaineering Club once more with the support of Eric Tapere which is also the 1st honorary member of the club who facilitated during the Basic Mountaineering Course I.

In September 1999, the new batch hiked up RCPI Tower in Busay, Cebu City where the new members and their adviser had their first experience in mountain climbing. Then at the tower peak, new officers were elected for SY 1999-2000. After receiving the school recognition, the Club is officially back.
