History
In 1999, Dr. Imelda P. Montuerto, DMD was chosen to be the college’s third dean, the first Cebu Doctors’ College of Dentistry graduate to be appointed to the post. She continues to serve the college with dynamic decisions and precise organization to the best of her abilities up to the present.
And in November 2004, the Cebu Doctors’ College was conferred and became the Cebu Doctors’ University with Dr. Potenciano V. Larrazabal, Jr. MD as the first university president and Dr. Imelda P. Montuerto, DMD as the first dean of the university’s college of dentistry.
The reputation of the university has always been one of clinical excellence.Under close supervision and meticulous scrutiny, the students perform almost a thousand dental procedures annually.Since the school is situated in the center of a large and diversely populated metropolitan area, the students gain even more experience in providing comprehensive oral health care to patients with a wide range of needs in a manner that respects the social, economic, and medical considerations specific to each individual through various medical and dental missions and free clinics in addition to their annual requirements. Many students take advantage of these opportunities for exposures which prepare them for the sensitive care of different types of patients from different economic strata – from the indigent patients to the financially stable ones; and medical conditions – from the healthy to the medically compromised ones.
Thus, it has come to no surprise to everyone that over the years, the College of Dentistry under the tutelage of the present dean has produced countless board examination placers and has been awarded first place in specific categories on more than one occasion. Rarely does it fall below the top three spots.In fact, like a fine wine, it seems that the quality of education offered by its distinguished and accomplished faculty is improving with each passing year. It has been consistent in producing highly knowledgeable and skilled graduates every year, graduates who achieve top honors in board ratings and are confident that they are qualified and capable of almost everything that their bright futures bring.
Currently, the Cebu Doctors’ University College of Dentistry is proudly regarded as one of the best dental college nationwide and is even privileged with the distinction of receiving full accreditation status by some foreign nations.
