The College of Dentistry offers a two-year pre-dental course plus a four-year dental program leading to the degree of Doctor of Dental Medicine (DDM). As more students wished to enroll on the dental course, it became apparent that new premises with more space were required. Thus, it has evolved into what it is present: the dental infirmary, with specific separate departments for Oral Surgery, Prosthodontics, and Restorative Dentistry, situated at the ground floor with the dean’s office and the faculty/conference room. On the second floor, fully air-conditioned Prosthetic-Restorative Dentistry laboratory rooms and lecture rooms are located on the second and fourth floors, respectively.
Waiting Areas with a row of chairs outside the dental infirmary enable patients to take a breather while they await their clinicians. Swinging glass doors lead to the reception area where the clinic receptionist pages the clinicians through the built-in speakers all around the infirmary.
To the left is the office of the secretary of the dean, with the door to the dean’s office always open, the ever-supportive dean is ready to lend a listening ear and to give sage advice to those who need it. The spacious dental infirmary itself on the right has several rooms walled off to separate each department from one to another.
The Oral Surgery room is composed of six (6) dental chairs, arranged 3 units per side with a wide aisle at the middle, separated by a glass window from another smaller room with two (2) additional dental chairs for oral examination purposes and a small table for case discussions with the clinical instructor. An electro-cautery machine is also available whenever the students wish to utilize it for surgical purposes..
