Message from the Dean
“Welcome to our website! The Cebu Doctors’ University College of Rehabilitative Sciences or CDUCRS has been very fortunate to have as part of its faculty and clinical instructors, young and idealistic professionals who are dedicated and committed in continually upgrading the standards of classroom and clinical teaching of PHYSICAL THERAPY and OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY in the Philippines. CDUCRS is likewise fortunate to have an administration that is supportive of its thrust for excellence in the field of rehabilitative sciences, and in improving learning instruction, facilities, equipment and services. And CDUCRS is fortunate to have students and graduates who have proven themselves worthy to be called “the cream of the crop” both here and abroad. CDUCRS has become one of the premier schools of PT and OT in the country for the past decade.
It is my pleasure therefore to show you around and give you a brief background of what CDUCRS was, is and will become, in this new millennium. The works, dreams and aspirations of CDUCRS will come alive before your eyes as you tour the presentation depicting the various areas of interest for our viewers and guests. The once small department has indeed blossomed into CDU's ever-dynamic college. The OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY Program of CDUCRS has been recognized by the World Federation of Occupational Therapists (WFOT) since March 2001. We have become the fourth school in the Philippines to be given such a recognition. (Please visit www.wfot.org.au and click Philippines then go to WFOT-accredited programs.) I therefore congratulate the Department of Occupational Therapy, headed by then Chairperson Miss Ellynel Siu, OTRP. I hope you can join CDUCRS and its plans to continue the PT-OT internship affiliation in the USA, and the continuing accreditation of the PT and OT Programs nationally (PAASCU) and internationally.
CDUCRS also welcomes a new department...RESPIRATORY THERAPY for 2005. The program of Bachelor of Science in Respiratory Therapy (BSRTp) is the first program of RTp to be offered in the Visayas, a testament to CDU's premier role in bringing health care programs to the region. RTp faculty Donny Andaya RT and Leah Ayatal RT (products of Zamboanga A.E. Colleges), together with our PT Chairman Jerome Coligado PTRP; OT Chairperson Venus Pelaez OTRP, OTR; PT Clinical Coordinator Cesar Jonas Veloso PTRP and OT Clinical Coordinator Charles Jureidini, OTRP, will continue to remain steadfast in its ongoing journey towards excellence. In the recent past, CDUCRS won 3rd Place in the CDC Intramurals 2003, thanks to the efforts of the RS Student Council 2003-2004, headed by Lovelei Pepito (PT '05) and Faculty Adviser Venus Pelaez OTRP. And in the 2003-2005 PT-OT Licensure Examinations given by PRC, CDUCRS placed among the top 3 out of 22 OT Schools nationwide, with a Top 3 finish for Stephanie Cabantan (Aug OT 2003) and Top 5 for Jennifer Rosal (Aug OT 2004) who was a former Miss RS in 2001, and Top 5 for Michelle Labura (Feb OT 2005). The PT's figured among the top 10 out of 92 PT schools nationwide, with Jehan Matoza placing 7th (Feb 2004 PT).
Congratulations guys for a job well done! So fasten your seat belts my friends...and enjoy the CDUCRS ride!"
